Leave the light on

They leave the light on
cannot tell you what they think
they cry for hours
even when they’re fast asleep
they never tire
they never grow quite used to this
they leave the light on
but they’re always stuck inside the abyss
the darkness consumes
eats them up before it’s over
they leave the light
hope they’ll see it over their shoulder
but it’s black here
the darkness all but overwhelming
they leave the light on
it’s always there for the taking

Sulfur

Black and blue melt down
sulfur clouds surround
the note is not profound
though it is a pleasant sound
trumpets all lie down
on floors so cold surround
blue and black they wait
sulfur clouds from floors they take
blacken out the night
the note it plays to dry to save
the sky that’s burning on

Turning right

I don’t think we’re going right
turning black straight into night
I don’t know just where to turn
we keep smoking the stick still burns
the smoke it does get it in your eyes
burning quite red into white
I don’t think we’re moving clean
the world does not yet know the mean
we keep smoking the stick still burns
I don’t think the car will turn
the road goes black the smoke is right
I don’t think it’ll cost tonight

Black

Too many sun flowers
too much doubt
finding myself
like a murderous trout
I got the answers
but I don’t know why
trapped in the cosmos
trapped in the mind
somebody else
let’s you forget rhyme
drink it all down
too many ways out
too many shame clouds
finding myself now
and then it goes black

Much

Too much sugar in my cup
can’t drink sugar it’s too much
broken teeth and sour brain
the tongue it hurts
taste buds’ blades
too much sweet not enough bitter
I need hate to keep me chipper
can’t drink now it’s far too hot
too much sugar in my cup
not enough liquid not enough luck
everything in plenty
everything in black
too much sugar drinking
too much happiness in drag

Again

Once again we’re here
back to where we were
maybe I’m wrong
I hope I am
hope I’m seeing wrong again
back and then it all goes black
drunk on what never comes back
a memory of what once was
a terrible tale of truth undone
once again we’re here
back to where it all began
death is such a familiar friend
when everything goes black again

Girls like vipers

She moves like a viper
but thinks she is the first
the one and only girl
to ever drink or curse
the first to wear all black
the first to own three cats
but still she prefers dogs
smoke cigarettes
takes bongs
fucks just like a man
at least tells herself she can
like the lady is a tramp
but she’s the first to dance
ever on a table
screaming her new labels
everybody forgets
girls were always like this
