Nasty thing

All the trauma overcome
my battles won
but here’s the fun
true fear comes from
knowing love
owning something
you won’t give up
willingness to feel happy
safety is a nasty thing
comfortable and so it seems
until you dream the dying dream
fear of your own mortality
creeps upon your shoulders stay
yet you still remember the days
days when death would have been
so sweet
but knowing love has made you weak
fear the end and losing sleep
all because you have the dream.

No country for old men

What is it that you want?
What battles have you fought?
No justice in your sights
just screaming at the night
you got hush money
but now you want something?
Won’t take him to court
but you’ll speak out for support
not just in cheers and praise
of course you want to get paid
pretending to be the hero
when you gave in to fear though
you lot are just cowards
women for themselves
you fed others to the beast
but now you condemn the crowd
for all the silence money bought
you made your choices
justice you forgot.

Victory

Justice comes to those
who fight
no matter the battle-
can’t run and hide-
wait for the victory
push fear aside
wade through the depth
of sacrifice
the price of justice
blind faith and keen eye
take in the moments
bring courage to life
show the demons
they’ve no place
here tonight
bleed for the victory
give Heaven it’s time.
