The rivers edge

At the rivers edge
pray for death again
as the waters rise
begging for the end
drown the world in tears now
sorrow for the gears
as oil keeps them turning
the river all but bends
drown the soul in water
bring it up from depths
as the mountains vanish
I’m praying for the end
for lungs to burst in malice
for flowers all but red
drown the world in tears now
pray that you don’t live

Once again we’re here
back to where we were
maybe I’m wrong
I hope I am
hope I’m seeing wrong again
back and then it all goes black
drunk on what never comes back
a memory of what once was
a terrible tale of truth undone
once again we’re here
back to where it all began
death is such a familiar friend
when everything goes black again

Begin again

Fire blooming from her hair
grows until it gets everywhere
burning the carpet
burning the chairs
the wooden floor now beyond repair
the lace and satin all but ash
her hair in flames it’s glorious
the destruction she brings
just walking in
the house is gone
time to begin again

Running in circles

Run, run into everything
you’ve had before
break this silence never more
the glass remains unshattered
on the kitchen floor
the liquid held within
spills nothing-all ignored
lashing into shadows
hurt it all the same
run away from everything
just to return again.
